This is a great question and it comes up a lot. We do not offer a design service like this. I know designers who do and for a brief period of time I did offer this type of service, but in the end it was not very satisfying for the client.
At the end of the day, my goal is to provide my clients with the highest quality, the best service, and the most positive experience possible. Part of offering the highest quality is being able to create a concept for your home and work from that concept to specify all of the furniture, finishes, equipment, and accessories that will bring the concept to life.
Part of my design process is to look at your design problems from the big picture and find solutions that address the big picture. The details of the project are filled in as part of the big picture plan. Working from the big picture to the smaller details takes a lot of time and planning.
Items like an individual piece of furniture or a lighting fixture or a single finish for a bathroom project are details. Without knowing the big picture of the project I can’t guarantee that the item will actually work in your project. It also sets us up for mistakes. For example, if I tell you that a particular piece of lighting would look great, but the fixture is in the wrong location or if you’re ceilings are too low to accommodate the size of the piece, then you will be unhappy with the end result, and thus be unhappy with me. Using the tried and true 14-step process is the only way to mitigate this type of error.
